Lyrics

Silver Flyer

She was a silver flyer

over a sea of darkness in his heart

and he thought that he would try her

only to see if she could give him one last start

Silver flyer

Don’t fly into the night

Silver flyer, higher and higher

Shining brighter than the sky

Down in a lover’s spiral

Pulled to the ground by his desire

But she tells him darling I will

rise like a phoenix fire

Silver flyer

Don’t fly into the night

Silver flyer, higher and higher

Shining brighter than the sky

She was orchid, he was musk

She was sunrise, he was dusk

She was liquid, he was stone

She was with him, but he was alone

Silver flyer

Don’t fly into the night

Silver flyer, higher and higher

Shining brighter than the sky

Lyrics

Blind

All of a sudden there’s a hole in me

Where for a lifetime you used to be

All in a moment I realize

What I took for true love

Was just dreams and lies

And I was blind because I loved you so

My eyes were closed to the bitter cold

My heart was so open, so out of my mind

How can a woman, how can she be so blind

Oh there were signs, I’m sure, a multitude

There always are with a man like you

Late nights, short trips, phone calls that quickly end

But a woman goes on loving what she can’t defend

And I was blind because I loved you so

My eyes were closed to the bitter cold

My heart was so open, so out of my mind

How can a woman, how can she be so blind

And there’s nothing in this world I wouldn’t have given you

But now I can’t see a reason to try forgiving you

Lyrics

Good Enough

Dreaming of a day of rest

Sailing on a glass edged sea

Hoping like a girl on Christmas Eve

For my dreams to come to me

But nice girls learn before long

To get what you want you’ve got to be strong

So you learn to fight with all you have

That’s how you learn what you have

Is good enough to be loved

It’s good enough

A lady is a lady in waiting

While fate is fading away

Oh but a woman is willful, a woman is wild

Shaping herself from the clay

Cause nice girls learn before long

To get what you want you’ve got to be strong

So you learn to fight with all you have

That’s how you learn what you have

Is good enough to be loved

It’s good enough

I reach up to the glowing sky

I hold the moon in my hands

Pull the tide to my side

With all the strength I am and it’s good enough

Lyrics

Dancing with You

I’ve been keeping your letters under my pillow

I’ve been keeping my love up on the shelf

I’m happy tonight just passing the time

Dancing with you all by myself

I still remember the night we promised each other

Not to dance with anyone else

Now you know how I’m keeping that vow

Dancing with you all by myself

And the radio’s playing our favorite song

I close my eyes and you are kissing me

I’ve been missing you darling for oh so long

And I pray you are still missing me

So I’ll spin me around one more time slowly

To that melody we know so well

Til you are here, I’ll dream of you dear

And be dancing with you all by myself

Lyrics

Coming Home

I am fighting rush hour traffic from the airport in this compact rental car

And I am driving to the outskirts where the quite woods and neighborhoods are

As I drive ‘neath leafy canopies something dappled happens to my mind

A trembling sense of hoping for the letting go I’m coming home to find

Coming home….

I am sold on the virtues and vices of my solo city life

And I am driven by an appetite for complications of my own device

But these tall trees and still rooms speak in tongues that I still understand

My hard edge is worn down like course wood rubbed by loving hands

Coming home, coming home…..

Home is the place at the very center of your heart

Where you are perfectly content with nothing more than knowing you belong

A sigh of satisfaction on a balmy summer night

A deep reassurance that everything is gonna be alright

Coming home, coming home, coming home…….

I am fighting rush hour traffic from the airport in this compact rental car

And I am driving to the outskirts where the quite woods and neighborhoods are

Lyrics

Deep Blue of Midnight

In the deep blue of midnight

Your familiar face appears

Stirs my deepest longing

And my oldest fears

Every night is just the same

Nothing seems to cool this flame

I wait and wonder what will be

In the deep blue of midnight

In the deep blue of midnight

Your voice softly comes

And here in the darkness

My heart beats like urgent drums

In faint whispers you promise me

What I dream but cannot see

By the flickering candle that I keep

In the deep blue of midnight

Streaking stars on indigo

Leave me in a reverie

Sleepless, sightless, restless hours

Caught up in every thought of me and you

Streaking stars on indigo

Leave me in a reverie

Sleepless, sightless, restless hours

Caught up in every thought of me and you

In the deep blue of midnight

Lyrics

Veterans Day

It was a cool day in November with an undecided sun

And the sharp scent of burning leaves

Her auburn hair glowed like a halo on a harlot

And her sweater tugged at his heart’s sleeve

There was something familiar about all this

As he savored the taste of that first warm kiss

It was Veterans Day, he’s been there before

It was Veterans Day, still bleeding from the last war

But she looked sweet as a candy apple

And his tongue wouldn’t have it any other way

Hooray for Veterans Day

There’s a hole in my heart where the arrow went through

On it’s way to another woman

There’s a ring on my finger where I have been branded

And stranded with empty hands

But wounds will heal in the cool dry fall

And a purple heart is better than no heart at all

It was Veterans Day, I've been there before

It was Veterans Day, still bleeding from the last war

But he looked sweet as a candy apple

And my tongue wouldn’t have it any other way

Hooray for Veterans Day

All is fair in love and war as far as I’m concerned

Hearts and nations rise and fall and never, ever learn

Lyrics

Feel You in My Bones

The taste of honey on my tongue

Doesn’t last for very long

But when I’m all alone

I think of what we’ve done

And I can feel you in my bones again

I don’t mind when the sky turns grey

I won’t cry if you walk away

Just tell me lies til dawn

so that when you’re gone

I can feel you in my bones again

Love is not the only reason

for a brief and dark liaison

We don’t need excuses to be here

In my world I’ll let you stay

For forever or just a day

And when I’ve had my fill

I’ll that you for the thrill

Close my eyes and feel you in my bones again, again

Lyrics

The Deep

Your touch like a river

carries me

drifting from reason

down to the sea

The tide is pulling me under

dark with the spell that you weave

The tide is pulling me under and into the

Deep water

Love’s mystery

It’s hard to find your way

down in the deep

The tide is pulling me under

dark with the spell that you weave

The tide is pulling me under and into the

I’m tethered to this longing

your kiss my only release

that ancient, urgent falling

brings me to my knees

I close my eyes and breathe

The tide is pulling me under

dark with the spell that you weave

The tide is pulling me under and into the

Deep water

Love’s mystery

It’s hard to find your way

down in the deep

Lyrics

The Way You Look at Me

I walk into a crowded room

There’s something in the air

Before I even see you babe

I feel your presence there

I know I shouldn’t look your way

I feel the urge, I try to fight

But like Persephone in Hades babe

I can’t resist that first bite

The way you look at me and my careful clothes

Those smoldering eyes make me feel so exposed

The way you look at me makes my body weak

The way you look at me, I can feel your heat

You don’t say you love me, you want something for free

Your eyes just say you’ll have me and I can’t disagree

The way you look at me

So many better choices

So many healthy desires

But only your eyes promise, baby

To set me on fire

Oh the way you look at me and my careful clothes

Those smoldering eyes make me feel so exposed

The way you look at me makes my body weak

The way you look at me, I can feel your heat

You don’t say you love me, you want something for free

Your eyes just say you’ll have me and I can’t disagree

The way you look at me

Lyrics

Waiting for the Sun

Night… you come and steal me from the evening

Slow…I barely feel your vapored breath

Kiss….something passionate and urgent

like a matter of life or death

Hope….the only reason for tomorrow

Love….a fiction feeding me your line

Tears….the wages paid in full by dreamers

pathways too familiar for a sign

I know you feel my in the shadows

Like a bird in rain before the warmth of dawn

No one could be farther from love’s arrow than I am

Oh and I am left here waiting for the sun

Blessed…just a word that you once called me

Blind….I half stumble through the dark

Freedom…..what greater coldness could be offered

like a winter that leaves it’s sterile mark

I know you feel my in the shadows

Like a bird in rain before the warmth of dawn

No one could be farther from love’s arrow than I am

Oh and I am left here waiting for the sun

I know you feel my in the shadows

Like a bird in rain before the warmth of dawn

No one could be farther from love’s arrow than I am

Oh and I am left here waiting for the sun
